Chapter 210: Chapter 203 Zhan Qipei’s Utmost Fury
Just as she was about to fall onto the man, a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist from behind, keeping her body balanced.
Qiao Jing turned around to look at Wu Xirui, the one who had just grabbed her other wrist was none other than Wu Xirui himself.
A cold air instantly rose from under Zhan Qipei’s feet, encircling his entire body, and headed towards enveloping both Qiao Jing and Wu Xirui.
“Let go,” these two words were spoken by Zhan Qipei to Wu Xirui.
With a crooked smile, Wu Xirui not only didn’t let go of Qiao Jing’s hand but instead, in front of Zhan Qipei, deliberately tightened his grip.
Wu Xirui’s action deeply riled up Zhan Qipei, and in an instant, his anger burned to its boiling point, his fists clenched in preparation to strike.
Qiao Jing noticed Zhan Qipei’s reaction, looked towards Wu Xirui, and tugged at her hand, but couldn’t pull it free.
Wu Xirui was standing off fiercely against Zhan Qipei, neither willing to give in to the other.
Qiao Jing again attempted to pull her hand free from Zhan Qipei’s grasp, but still couldn’t, which infuriated her.
“Let go,” she directed the words at Zhan Qipei, and also at Wu Xirui.
“She told you to let go, didn’t you hear?” Zhan Qipei spoke with a cold voice, his face so somber it seemed to merge with the darkness of the outside night.
“Heh–” Wu Xirui laughed mockingly with a curled lip, “It sounds to me like she’s asking you to let go. You’re holding her so tightly, look, you’ve even turned her red. Don’t you feel a bit sorry for her?”
Zhan Qipei’s brows furrowed tightly, his gaze slightly shifted towards Qiao Jing’s wrist, which was indeed somewhat red, and he loosened his grip a little.
Seeing this, Wu Xirui abruptly pulled Qiao Jing over to himself.
Zhan Qipei became enraged! He reached out to push Wu Xirui and snatched Qiao Jing back from Wu Xirui’s hands.
Wu Xirui faltered backward from Zhan Qipei’s push, taking several steps back before colliding with the edge of the dining table with a sound.
“Mm-hmm–” A muffled groan of pain followed.
Wu Xirui’s face paled, his forehead glistening with beads of sweat, and his right hand clenched tightly over the front of his left chest as his breathing grew disorderly.
Qiao Jing, seeing Wu Xirui in this state, judged that it was an onset of his illness. She was about to go over to treat Wu Xirui when Zhan Qipei pulled her back.
“Why are you going over there? I’m your husband!”
A firestorm of anger churned within Zhan Qipei; this woman had actually deceived him. To refuse to come with him, she made up the excuse that she had to treat a patient, yet she attended a banquet with another man.
Moreover, that man was none other than Wu Xirui!
If it weren’t for the sliver of rationality Zhan Qipei still possessed, he would have already taken Qiao Jing away by now and dealt with the situation crazily.
“Zhan Qipei, let me go first, let me get to him. He is uncomfortable, human life is at stake, this isn’t the time for foolishness. I’ll explain to you later,” Qiao Jing said as she struggled free from Zhan Qipei and went to Wu Xirui’s side.
Zhan Qipei stood still, his mind filled with Qiao Jing’s words just now.
Foolishness… ha… to think she called him foolish…
The more he thought about it, the angrier Zhan Qipei became.
And just then, Wu Xirui threw a victorious smile at Zhan Qipei.
Qiao Jing, fully occupied with treating Wu Xirui, took no notice of this.
Zhan Qipei’s lips pressed tightly into a curveless line of ice as he took large strides towards Qiao Jing, grabbed her hand forcefully in his own, and made sure she stopped touching Wu Xirui.
“Hiss–” Qiao Jing winced in pain; this time, Zhan Qipei truly hurt her.
“Zhan Qipei, you–”
“I’m asking you, who is more important in your heart, him or me?!” Zhan Qipei ground out through his teeth.
Qiao Jing’s brows knitted, “Zhan Qipei, I told you, stop this foolishness. He is not well right now. I promised him, I’d cure him.”
Zhan Qipei completely disregarded Qiao Jing’s words, continuing, “Let me phrase it differently, if both he and I were about to die, who would you save first?”
Hearing Zhan Qipei ask this, Qiao Jing suddenly recalled a joke she had seen online.
“If your mom and I both fell into the water at the same time, who would you save first?”
It was the same type of unreasonable troublemaking.
Annoying.
“There aren’t that many ‘ifs’.” After saying this, Qiao Jing couldn’t be bothered to engage with Zhan Qipei further, forcefully withdrawing her hand to take Wu Xirui’s pulse.
Zhan Qipei’s fist clenched with a crackling sound, as if fire were consuming him!
“Fine, I’ve seen your choice!”
With that, Zhan Qipei turned around and left.
“Young Master Zhan? Young Master Zhan?” Lu Zijiao looked at the angrily departing Zhan Qipei and then at Qiao Jing.
“What on earth is going on? Young Master Zhan, wait for me!” In the end, Lu Zijiao chased after Zhan Qipei and left.
Qiao Jing withdrew the glance she had been casting at the departing Zhan Qipei, her eyelids half-lowered, her long and thick eyelashes casting a fan-shaped shadow over her eyes beneath the light overhead, concealing the emotions in her eyes.
Wu Xirui kept staring at Qiao Jing, trying to guess what she was thinking, but her face was without a ripple or stir, utterly inscrutable.
Eventually, he couldn’t help but ask aloud, “Aren’t you going to follow and see?”
Qiao Jing pulled back her hand, looked up at Wu Xirui, “You need to rest well now.”
Wu Xirui’s condition wasn’t very serious; his pale face was likely due to his lower back hitting the corner of a table, yet he had grasped at his heart…
He was faking it.
Why fake it?
“Where are you going?” Wu Xirui saw Qiao Jing about to leave and quickly called out to stop her.
“That’s all for today. I’ll treat you when I have time.” Qiao Jing looked down at her clothes, her tone indifferent, “I’ll return these clothes to you later.”
After speaking, Qiao Jing turned around and left.
“Are you going after him?” Wu Xirui once again stopped Qiao Jing, “He left you alone, why would you chase after him? Women shouldn’t indulge men too much, or else you’ll be the one who suffers.”
Qiao Jing glanced sideways at Wu Xirui. “Thank you for your advice, but I have my principles when it comes to handling things.”
Without wasting more words with Wu Xirui, Qiao Jing picked up her evening gown and walked toward the hotel entrance.
“Rumble rumble rumble–”
Just as Qiao Jing reached the hotel entrance, thunderous sounds roared overhead.
“You finally came out!” Lu Zijiao, slightly drenched from the rain, was anxious like an ant on a hot pan.
Qiao Jing frowned, hesitated for two seconds, then asked, “Where is he?”
Lu Zijiao gestured with his chin toward the outside of the entrance.
Hmm?
Qiao Jing paused for a moment, then quickly walked out of the hotel entrance.

She turned her head to see a man drenched like a drowned rat, his face hardened and unsmiling, leaning silently against the wall without moving.
“Why didn’t you leave?” Qiao Jing did not expect that Zhan Qipei, after being so furious, would still stay and wait for her.
Zhan Qipei slowly turned his head to look at Qiao Jing, “You haven’t answered my question yet?”
Qiao Jing took a breath, “You stayed just for my answer?”
“If he and I were both dying, whom would you save first?” Zhan Qipei, his deep and dark eyes as profound as the sea, stared intently at Qiao Jing in front of him.
